Professional profile
Practical enough to deliver. Strategic enough to lead.
Giles began his career as an electrician and entrepreneur, setting up an electrical contracting business at nineteen. That early experience created a lasting bias for action: understand the problem properly, take responsibility for the outcome and make the solution work in the real world.
After moving into solar and renewable energy, he entered electric vehicle charging in 2012. Since then, his work has spanned infrastructure delivery, business building, market development, strategic partnerships and senior commercial leadership.
“The best strategy is one that survives contact with the operation.”
Giles has advised organisations on workplace, destination, fleet and depot charging, including the more demanding questions surrounding commercial and heavy vehicles. He brings together vehicle requirements, energy constraints, commercial models and delivery risk to create a decision that makes sense as a whole.
His style is direct, collaborative and grounded. He is particularly effective where a leadership team needs to cut through noise, align multiple stakeholders and turn a complex electrification ambition into a credible programme.
